Zile ramase

Andrei will be 18 years old on 25th June 2017.
The best present for his birthday – LIFE!

On New Year’s Eve, Andrei made a wish: to win the Rugby Championship. The return match is close and they have pretty high chances to win it.
Andrei is very optimistic and now, it’s time for the championship – as you may have figure out by now, he really loves sport, especially rugby.
Andrei is head over heels, he can’t wait! He takes off his T-shirt… that weird lump on his tummy has grown, but he doesn’t make a big deal out of it.
Okay, that funky thing is bigger, but why would he panic? He never had troubles with doctors and he is strong like a horse. Blood tests, ultrasounds, magnetic resonance, CT and PET-CT? Really?!
Grown-ups should stop worrying about such small things!
Andrei does not play in the Rugby Championship anymore.
Andrei does not play rugby anymore…at all.
Andrei does chemotherapy.
Andrei has no homework.
Andrei has no hair.
Andrei has cancer with multiple metastases.
Andrei is 2 months away from his 18th birthday.
Andrei has a new wish – TO LIVE!
For his 18th birthday, we want to give him a chance to live!

Andrei Burdusel’s story, who is in the 3rd year of high school, at a National Sports College from Bucharest, is showing us that even the youngest and the most athletics of us can be smashed in the most cruel way, when we least expect it.
Andrei was diagnosed in late January 2017 with embrional rhabdomyosarcoma (abdominal primary tumor with liver, lungs and bones metastasis).
When he was consulted by a few of our Romanian specialist doctors, they just shook their head and shrug their shoulders powerless. Andrew’s family gathered every single penny for the young man to start his treatment in a hospital in Viena, Austria. Unfortunately, he was one of the 10% of the patients who are resistant to the main treatment scheme.
Now, Andrei is under a multi-modal treatment including chemotherapy, target therapy and radiotherapy. And, for the first time since January, the doctor is optimistic!

The new treatment has to continue!
Following the treatment, Andrei has to face a complex surgery that involves excision of the abdominal primary tumor and the liver metastasis.
After the surgery, Andrei has to continue the chemotherapy, target therapy and radiotherapy sessions.

In Viena, Andrei reached the middle of his road to full recovery. But his family ran out of money… and they still needed 75.000 de euro!

Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) is an aggressive and highly malignant form of cancer that develops from skeletal (striated) muscle cells. Commonly occurs in young subjects – the vast majority of cases occur in those below the age of 18.

RMS represents 20% of soft tissues sarcoma and appears mostly in male subjects – child, teenagers, young adults. It an occur in any site on the body, but is primarily found in the head, neck, orbit, genitourinary tract, genitals, and extremities Common site of metastasis include the lungs, bone marrow and bones. Embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma is the most common type and comprises about 60% of cases.

Soft tissue sarcomas are hard to spot, because they can grow anywhere in your body. Most often, the first sign is a painless lump.
